Yom Hashoah
We all had an enjoyable Pesach and we are now returning to Midreshet Moriah both excited and rejuvenated and ready to get back to learning and enjoying our last few weeks!
This past Monday was Yom Hashoah. A day where we honor and remember the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust and those who survived.
At 10:00 AM, we all walked up to Denya Square and stood silently as the siren sounded. It was an extremely moving experience to watch as the citizens of Israel paused in their daily activities and took the time to stand in unity.
We were then privileged to hear the testimony of Rena Quint, a holocaust survivor who took us through her journey of survival during the Holocaust and her strength to rebuild her life afterwards. We felt that we had become 'eye witnesses' to the difficulties she overcame and we were inspired in our own growth.
Vicky then spoke to us about "life after the Holocaust" and the challenges of rebuilding and continuation.
During Shiur Klali, Vicky and Rav Berglas spoke about their journey of Aliyah and the road to founding their yishuv, Neve Aliza. They also shared with us the beginning of Midreshet Moriah. It is extremely humbling being apart of their story.
We can't wait to spend our last weeks here and we are looking forward to all upcoming yomim.
GOOD SHABBOS!!
